A 90’s Vintage Jacket Is Back In Style

Michael Hoban of North Beach Leathers in San Francisco invented the original eight-ball jacket in 1990. The colorful $775 jacket, part of a series emblazoned with dice and playing cards, thrived, possibly due to unintended associations with cocaine (“eight ball” is slang for an eighth of an ounce). It was worn by stars such as Darryl Strawberry and Bobby Bonilla, and it exuded bad-boy brashness.
